キャンプ村？みたいな日常から隔絶された空間で起こった殺人事件。コナンくんみたい。サスペンスとしては目新しさはないんだろうけど、えーらくキュンキュンするキャラでした。思い出したのは、交渉人シリーズの芽吹さん。こんなに愛されちゃって、よかったね.

Josh Lanyon doesn't fail to squeeze my heart and agonize me over twisted and ardent stories, and this again caught me tenderly like out of the blue. 've got to read the second one.

幼馴染、ロックバンド、カミングアウト、葛藤・・・という、わかりやすい話ではありますが、もう一つパンチに欠ける。シリーズまだ続いているので、後半に期待。It was an easy and smooth read, but there was nothing I was deeply into or became sympathetic to the main character's feelings. To be a math teacher itself is quite something, but it was not everything for him. He's got a talent to be an artist!, oh well, I was kind of frustrated seeing someone that talented take pity on himself and keep pouting as if everything is ruined and there is no future for him when his sexual orientation was made open...

It's about the middle of the series and I don't know how many times I have to have my heart being squeezed and have a pause to calm myself and acknowledge that, how cruel and merciless it could be, there should always be some inevitable developments for m/m romance stories when one of the lovers choose to stay deep down in the closet. 原書を知らなければ、四つ星あげるんだけど、なにせ翻訳が素人さんだよなあ～って感じさせる仕上がりで、作品全体の雰囲気が、原書を読んだときに受けた印象とかなり違っていました。原書はもう少し軽いタッチでコミカルさを感じたんだけど。いっそ翻訳なんかせずに、難しい単語や表現に日本語のルビつけて出版するのはどうなんだろう。こっち原書。

With such an uncool front cover, I'd never ever chosen the book to read if not written by the author of "cut and run." I was expecting nothing more than a quick read, but it was a truly pleasure reading all the way through. It was like I was watching the item cuddling all the time, but they were too busy loving each other to notice my existence. This world is all theirs. ^^ Yet, I was not a bit irritated or got frustrated about their intimacy. Nothing particular happens, just a little bit of anguish and a pesky female, but I'm thoroughly soothed and satisfied with following their sweet sweet beginning of love.
このダサい表紙はどうしたことでしょう。中はこんなにスウィートなのに。
期待レベルは最低だったのに、終わってみたら五つ星。続きがあってもいいのになあ～

It's not a review, but a rumor says the book is translated&published soon in Japan. I don't know what kind of readers the publisher is aiming for when we Japanese BL fans are loaded with tons of BL novels and mangas all the time.

When I pick up a book to read, I usually refer to the word of mouth at amazon and goodreads and the book is fairly well scored. After reading some comments, I was expecting to read a hot & anguish filled story. But it seems I was hoping too much for this one. I don't know there is a clear definition differentiates erotic from porny, but I felt no eroticism in it, but just racy. Also, the language was a great disappointment. Being historical romance, isn't it natural to use more particular voice and vocabularies fitted for the age to create an atmosphere of old days? それとも私の英語力が足りなくて、ヒストリカルな雰囲気をつかめていないのかなあ。翻訳本が出版されるようですが、短い話、貴族、BDSMやエロがいっぱいってことで選んだのかなあ。こんなにsissyかと思えば、次の瞬間にはbarbaricなほどにboldなキャラを好きなBLファンって、いる？ほかにいくらでも胸キュンキュンなm/mあるのになあ。

邦訳タイトル見ると covered with goose bumpsな感じですが、中も同じトーンで翻訳してあるのかな？
原書は知らないほうがいいでしょうね^^;;;

BLとm/mは、似て異なるものというのか、作る側も読む側も、その土壌からして違うので、出来上がった作品は、MｘM,etoticismは共通するとしても、あとは全くの別物。
m/mのジャンルは現実と切り離して読めるものではなくて、例えば、condomを使わない話には、痛烈な批判レビューが出たりします。でも、BLを現実の社会と関連させて読むって、あまりしないですよね？

ちなみに、the Guardianのほうはaudio bookもあります。
ナレーターさんは、他のm/m作品も手掛けているんでるが、地声が高めで（この地声は好みなんだけど）、そこを頑張って低音ボイスを出すと・・・・・・馬場さんになるんです。streamyなシーンでも笑えます。ああ残念。

There are some audio books available in Dreamspinner, most of them are fairly good at best, though. I think "cut and run" and "sticks and stones" are just exceptional. They are so hot and yummy ^^

No more titles in the series, I'm so sad. Only wish I'll be able to meet this bumpy item again, I don't think there is enough space to dig in between them by now when they have almost nothing to keep secret from each other, though.
シリーズ３作目は、もう甘あまで、スリリングさを求めて読むと辛口になりますけど、誰も入り込むことができない、おやじギャグな二人の世界には完敗って感じです。

さて今回は、前２作品"cut and run" "stickes and stones"をaudiobookでも聞いてみたのですが、朗読の声が思った以上ツボにはまり、同じ朗読者で他の作品を探したものの、あまり数がなくがっかり。そもそもm/mの音声は数が少ないですが、これに出会えただけでもラッキーだったよなと。

同作者による本、"caught running"が今週一杯Dreamspinner pressで割引だったりしますよ^^

To write a review in English is a real challenge for me, non-native, so I usually skip doing it, but how can I be satisfied with completely if not writing anything about this exceptionally sweet and funny story of Jonathan and Cole!

I had no idea that this is the forth in a series, so some parts of the story I couldn't get a grasp well at the first read, but after reading other titles in the same series, I started to grasp all the situations and I thoroughly enjoyed even at the second read.

There are two main characters, Cole and Jonathan. They have quite different characteristics and Cole's sometimes wicked and bossy,
and other times submissive attitude really fascinated me. He'll be in top ten of my favorite m/m・BL characters.^^

Cole is a billionaire, so if his characteristics are not well pictured, I might not have liked him this much. But after knowing his lavish lifestyles: the life filled with luxuries, with many second houses all around the world, and never having sat on a seat except the first class on a airplane, I don't know how I can be disliking him now.

Cole is a man of fortune, but he's never acquainted with the pure love of families and his days as a child left him no memories of happy incidents with his parents.

However, Cole is aware of how pathetic he could sound if he whines about his unfortunate family background, so he tactfully hides his true self behind the thickly built wall of his disguise and acts a role of happy rich man which the society requires him to be. The only one person he can be honest with is the other key person, Jared.

Then, Cole met a man through a blind date set by Jared, and the man was kind of slow-poke Jonathan. Jonathan is a good buddy, but I don't think he'll be enjoyable with other than business situations. He seems to be dense and hard to entertain.

But once Jonathan and Cole get together, Jonathan's ordinary characteristics turns out to be really funny and sweet...

I do want to read more about the afterward story of these two adorable characters. I didn't give five starts to the other titles in the same series, but I recommend you to read all the titles, then you'll enjoy this candy book to its full and forever.

書評を書くのは苦手なので、いつもはスキップするところですが、
これは書かずにはおれない！１か月で２度読んでしまった。

シリーズものだとは知らずに＃４にあたるこの本から読んだので、意味不明な箇所がいくつかあったのですが、シリーズ＃１－３を読んだ後で再読したら、一回目にはスルーしてしまった場所も、話の流れがわかった後で読むと、辻褄が合って理解度もぐんと上昇。

他の書評ではあまり書かれていませんが、私がこの本に夢中になったのは、主人公の二人が対照的な性格の持ち主で、なかでもColeというひねくれた性格のbottomは、たまらなく魅力的なのです。ｍｍ/BL小説のキャラとしては、間違いなくベスト１０入り。

主人公の一人Coleは大金持ちという設定なので、どういう人物であるかうまく描き出されていないと嫌われ者で終わるとこですが、どんなに贅沢な生活をしていても、世界中に別荘があっても、飛行機はファーストクラスしか乗ったことがなくても、まったく嫌味を感じさせない。

というのはColeは莫大な財産がある代わりに、家族愛には恵まれておらず、幼少時の楽しい記憶を全くもっていないのです。それでいて恵まれた生活をする者が愛情が得られないと嘆いたところで、世間は同情してくれないことをよくわかっていて、自分が社会から求められている姿をけなげに演じ、満たされることのない内面を明かすのは、親友のJaredだけ。

そんないじらしい彼の前に現れたのが、どこかKYなJonathan。いい奴ですが、融通の利かない石頭というのか、仕事はできてもプライベートの付き合いは面白みに欠けそうなタイプです。でもColeという真逆なタイプとペアになることで、そのいじられキャラが１００％発揮されます。

あー、続きが読みたいな。
同シリーズの他３冊は４つ星どまりですが、これを十二分に味わうためにも、全巻読まれることをおすすめします！

舞台”美しいこと”　トークショー行ったよ♪

I went to a talk show of the stage "Utsukushiikoto" with my friend yesterday.

The show lasted only an hour and a half and not all the details about making such a controversial stage are revealed, but I'm so happy to have met two of the main actors; Isaka Toshiya-san and Yonamine Keita-kun.

In the show, we watched several short cuts from the DVD on a big screen and the facilitator asked the five actors/actresses to talk about and undermine the secret stories behind those scenes.

The most interesting story was about how Yonamine-kun(Matsuoka) and Isaka-san(Hirosue) manged to make a hot scene together. When they were asked to speak out their honest feelings, they giggled meaningfully and said it was all thanks to the great help from female members, actresses and other workers. Whenever they started to practice the very scene, about ten of almost all the female workers surrounded them in the range of one meter and vigorously taught them how to act naturally in the love making scene to the details. Listening to this story, I understand why I was not a bit disguised seeing the love making scenes of men in real. It was mostly a female fantasy that contributed to the beautiful scenes. If those suggestions were made by male, then the scene could have been gross for the eye of women.

Having useful abundant suggestions from women, they seem to have had no big problems to act those scenes, but still, I thought Yonamine-kun might have worried a lot to play a female role. But he said noncharantly that he didn't mind at all to be kissed and loved because he was completely a different personality, Matsuoka, at that time on the stage.

After the talk, a photo-taking session with actors was held for the fans who bought the DVD of the stage, so I bought one and got a ticket for the photo-shooting. However, I'm such a shy and modesty person? that I wasn't sure if I will manage to behave properly as a good fan when I'm sandwitched by super cool guys. Instead of going through a heart-beating experience, I asked my dear friend to take a photo with them in place for me and she kindly accepted my offer! Thanks!!

The photo was taken from under the stage, so the angle is not perfect. Unfortunately, Yonamine-kun, the one on the left, looks small and girly, but his body is well built and he is definitely cool and adorable in real. Hearing his talk and judging from his behaviors, he must have been brought up in an ideal circumstance; with an affluent love of his parents and an easygoing, stress-free environment in Okinawa.

The right hand is Isaka-san and he is oh! so gorgeous, stunningly attractive. ^^; I bet not many women are able to resist falling in love with him when theirs eyes met. When he was young, he was trying to be a professional soccer player, but his injury didn't allow him to pursue his dream. He says in his profile, instead of becoming a soccer player, he chose to be an actor and keep spreading his passion and love to as many fans and audiences as possible. Anyway, it looks like there is nothing for him to be short of, but well, I don't know what's going to happen once women know his true personality. According to the talk show, he seems to be notorious for his becoming an annoying big kisser when he gets drunk, ha ha.

Behind my friend is Sasaki Takuma-san, and he is such kind of an actor to be likely chosen as a sub role all the time. I mean, whether he likes it or not, he is destined to behave as a crown and stay behind the leading actors. He is expected to work hard to cheer other young actors and to be a role model for them. I think he is the most enjoyable person to get along with if I were to befriend with one of them. You know it's not likely for anybody to be perfect both in character and in appearance.

It was a real nice show and I wish I could meet them again on the stage of the following story of Utsukushiikoto, but sad to say, the chances might be very slim.

It's just lovely to have a special event related to BL coming every month, a stage, DVD and a talk show, and I'm so lucky to be able to join all of them.
A special talk show of Utsukushii Koto will be held next month in two major cities, Tokyo and Osaka, in Japan to commemorate the production of DVD.　
I feel like hearing big sigh coming from overseas avid fans of Utsukushii koto...

Five performers, Osaka-San for Hirosue, Yonamine-san for Matsuoka, and Sasaki-san for Yoshida and two more, are expected to join the event. After having watched the stage of Utsukushii koto, I started to cheer Yonamine-san in my Ameba blog and I'm going to see his next stage soon, but I didn't have a chance to see Isaka-san, so I'm really excited to see him again.

木原音瀬さんの「美しいこと」が先日舞台化され、DVDも発売です。
井坂俊哉さん、与那嶺圭太さんが熱演されています。
私は舞台を見た後に先行予約したんですが（特典ありなんですが）、
海外の人からリクエストがあって、複数購入したんですが・・・、
アマゾンで買うと、いきなり割引なのね。うーん、フクザツ。
あの舞台が、どのように編集されているのかな。

I got requests from some of my net friends abroad and they asked me to place an order for the DVD. They have to pay big postal fee to buy the DVD, and moreover, the DVD itself is not cheap. Yonamine Keita is a young actor, who lives in Tokyo. He is originally from Okinawa.

He played Matsuoka's role on stage the other day.
I was really impressed with his courage and passion. The thing is, at several days before the opening day of the stage, the main actor, who are supposed to be playing Matsuoka, went down because of his health problem, and Yonamine took over his part at the very last moment.
He had only five! days to prepare for two and a half hours stage. Can you believer it? I don't think I can memorize that much of dialogs in just such a short period of time.
It was a small stage and the theme is not popular one, yet, not many actors could be courageous enough to take an audition and challenge such a difficult work like he did.
So, I've grown my interests toward him and decided to support him in my own way, especially by delivering his info to the world in English.
The other day, he gave us fans a chance to ask questions in his blog, and I asked him two questions and he kindly answered them.

Well, I was thrilled to obtain this DVD partly becasue I'd love to watch the different stage performance which I missed, but to my regret, this DVD was compiled from the very stage I've watched, I'm afraid. Yeah, as I recall, there were several video cameras, and one camera was actually just behind my seat and I once hit the tripod lightly, my bad...
Anyway, I'm glad that the DVD is available for the wider audiences and I hope fans oveaseas don't mind going to the trouble of ordering it and watch it legally.

Report: a stage of Utsukushii Koto from Shinjyuku

Let me take a rest this weekend for the translation of the last track of Itoshii Koto. Instead, I'm going to write a short report of the stage of Utsukushiikoto. There was an accident just several days before the opening day of the stage, that the main actor who are supposed to act Matsuoka went down with some health issues and Yonamine Kenta substituted for Matsuoka's part. He had only a week to practice, but his performance was definitely something concerning that short period of preparation time.

I watched the stage of a daytime show on 17th June, 2010. When I first encountered the announcement that Utsukushii Koto, a big title among many BL novels, will be made into a stage, I was not so sure if I should watch it. I enjoy BL as sheer fantasy and it has nothing to do with the real life. M-M couple can be so beautiful only in stories, I thought. I was worried until the very moment the light of the stage turned off and the performance began.

However, to my pleasant surprise, my mind didn't find it difficult to be absorbed in the fantasy of BL. Matsuoka's beauty way surpassed other women on the stage. He/she? was just stunning. I couldn't take my eyes off of Matsuoka's delicately moving fingers and long slim legs stretched like a deer. In addition to that, Hirosue was so Hirosue^^; His back was always slightly bent forward and looked so timid all the time, except that very scene he lost his rational mind and hurt both Matsuoka's mind and body by force. At that moment, Hirosue turned into a real male^^; You know, I didn't think that sex scene would be showed in the stage, but there was, and it was quite natural. Nothing distracted me. Matsuoka desperately tried to arouse Hirosue with shy kisses and Hirosue was turned on eventually and just became a man of desire... well, of course the scene itself was quite short but really hot. ha ha

The first half of the stage, Matsuoka is disguised as a woman, so he doesn't utter a word, then the rest he is a man wearing a suit to the last, but it was strange, as the stage comes near to the end, I felt Matsuoka's inside became more feminine. The last scene, do you remember? Hirosue stumbled down on purpose to let Matsuoka come to him near the railroad crossing and grabs Matsuoka's hand. It was really heart breaking, just like the scene of Suzuki Tatsuhisa's act on DramaCD.

Over all, the stage didn't miss my expectations. The performance was great. But really sorry to say, other factors such as the stage direction and the choice of stage properties like bags and clothes were poor. The stage could be more first rated one if it's directed by a more experienced director, I think.

Well, did I let you feel how the stage was like at least some amount, I wonder.
There are some pictures, so please enjoy them and also I'll buy the DVD of this stage and it will be released this August. Copyright issues are quite big concern lately in Japan, do you know one of a junior high school student was arrested due to his frequent uploading of Jump manga on Youtube, so I don't want to practice an action to break a law, but I do want to let you guys to watch this stage on DVD. I'm even wondering if I should make a contact with the company and ask them if they want to make a DVD with English translation. ha ha

I'll be translating Shinayakana series next, or simultaneously, with Utsukushii koto, as I got a request. It's not quite sure yet, but will be turned into a project in Hibiki group. You'll be able to get a refined translation then.
This series is a bit long..., comes with three volumes and I haven't read or listened to the whole story yet... I just hope I won't get bored in a halfway through... now I'll get back to "Utsukushii Koto" and upload a new one soon.

S: I'm Suzuki Chihiro for Hatano Yukio. The first CD was very serious and tough one, but this time, there are some heart warming scenes such as working as a caretaker in a nursery school, so it was good... LOL
Did you like it?
S: Yeah, I liked it. I've never done before such a role.
Do you like children?
S: Yeah, I like children.
Then what was like being a teacher?
S: To tell you the truth, I have a younger sister and she is a teacher in a kindergarten. She works very hard for such a festival, so the scene in the story reminded me of my sister working there. I really enjoyed the recording.

Now, Ikawa-kun.
C: Okay
Ikawa-kun, you've changed!! LOL You lost weight? or should I say you became skin and bones? ha ha
C: Well, I wanted to be jsut like Ikawa, so... I went on a diet and...oh I'm Chiba Susumu for Ikawa. I'd better introduce myself. LOL So, I was surprised at the sudden change of Ikawa's life.
Yeah, He was on the main stream in the company, then
C: He fell down completely. and he took it out on others...
LOL It's not just taking it out on others, it was a crime, attempted murder.
C: Anyway, I didn't expect Ikawa to behave like that. While I'm acting, I breathed so hard, and it was not THAT kind breath, so It was different from other drama.
I think so, it was not the scene for BL. I was scared.

I think everybody is listening to this free talk after the main story and I think that fighting scene was so frightening. You know, when you open a door, Ikawa is there! Whoa, scary.

Thanks to the investigation, It came clear that Ikawa started the fire in Mashiba's condo, and he was arrested on suspicion of arson and assault. It's reported that Ikawa was envious of his co-worker, who went higher on the Carrier ladder, and committed the crime while he was in confusional state with drug. As for attacking me, it's said that his co-worker, Mashiba, was not his house, so Ikawa rushed into my place to look for his co-worker. Ikawa is said to have confessed during the interrogation only that he was jealous of his co-worker. Even Mashiba didn't know, but after the change in personnel, Ikawa was not his usual self and people upstairs have already questioned his poor work. I hope he'll be able to overcome all the difficulties someday.
m: By the way, all the furniture got trashed out with water, will you come with me to buy some?
h: Yeah, but I can't tell it was good or not. After all, Mashiba, who has no place to live after the fire, came to live with me, and he moved to my house saying we share my house. Kamata said that it's would be better to live here, full of sad memories, with some friend.

It was my first challenge to translate Drama CD and I'm now relieved to know such an half- way translation, full of typo and scenes still being vague, could be some help for BL fans. Now, I'm wondering what title I'm going to work next, maybe "Koushounin series," though it's long... I read BL novels time to time, but I'm so new to DramaCD and I started to realize that some cheap novels could be turned into very good DramaCDs if the voice actors are just right for the stories. It also means that good novels don't always turn out to be a good listening, sad to say...

K:Well, I think he wants to settle this issue just among us, and thought you were the one who can mange it.
M: It was Shimazaki who was responsible for the Million corp., So it means he was not good enough for the Million.
K: Don't say that. Anyway, I'll do something about that. First, we need concrete figures then we can make a new plan. Kashima-san is not easy to handle.

K: BTW, How's Hatano? Is he doing good?
M: Yeah, I went out to drink the other day and he was quite busy to prepare for the festival in the nursery school.

As I hold my hands over the fire, my fingers start to feel warm. It's middle of February and spring has come only on a lunar calender, but soon the cold lets up in half a month.

Nara's sharp and sometimes bold illustrations go quite well with this story, too. They are really enjoyable reading. I wonder if the next volume is planned or not.

I'm so dumb that I've long forgotten to make an new entry of Saki Aida, one of my favorite novelists, in my blog. The first novel I read is "S" series in English version. At that time, I was quite new to BL and had no idea what kind of novel it might be. To my surprise, it grabbed my mind so hard and I went further to read all the four volumes in English. There are some BL novels in English, but "S" is the only title I can recommend without any hesitation.
Another good thing is, according to my friend's advice, the translation is not bad for English learners. My friend's advice is, "The translations of S were great especially the fourth volume. I think people learning English may read it to help them improve on reading English. Yet since the writing style is more creative than technical, I wouldn't rely heavily on it for grammar and punctuation." Thanks for your advice!
I hope that other Saki Aida's novels will be translated in English sometime soon.
I'm lucky being able to enjoy the world of Saki Aida twice in Japanese and English.

It's terribly surprising for such a title to go into the best seller list, I think. I don't like the sloppy? way of illustrations and the shallow love of the main characters, but I do want to read more about the future of sub characters, nobu, a training doctor, and a professor... I've been buying BL manga and novel almost for a year and it cannot be going like this any more because there is no place to keep them away from my family's eyes in my house. The Assignment
I've read several titles about gay couples and I usually end up feeling somehow unsatisfied with them. They often lack story lines to dig up enough with delicate feeling of main characters and just fly into the "you know what." It doesn't satisfy my appetite. However, this title was slightly different from others and I was fairly made full of with it, and I knew why. I guess almost all gay stories are written by those who are gay themselves, but this title is written by female author. It's like Japanese BL of yaoi stories, which are written for women by women.

I don't remember how I got my hands on this title. There are some twenty titles with this series. The story shares almost the same patterns in each titles, so some might get bored reading one or two titles, but for me, the main characters are so sweet and they always turn me crazy to know how their relationship deepens along the story goes.
